TEST OVERVIEW

Hormones support the function of all other body systems. At PathLab, we provide the highest quality urinary hormone assays (along with serum and salivary hormone assays).

A 24 hour urine hormone evaluation measures the free levels of the primary hormone that are produced in a day (not a moment in time as found with other methods). The diurnal fluctuations of blood hormone levels present interesting challenges, however, urinary assays are generally immune to the diurnal fluctuations and daily variations, providing an indication of total daily production.

Additionally, 24-hour urine hormone evaluations provide information on the utilization of hormones by measuring primary metabolites.

The goal of Oestrogen Metabolism Monitoring is to assess and reduce potential risk of disease as much as possible by monitoring which oestrogen metabolites are being produced, the relationship between the metabolites and how replacement therapy affects these metabolite levels.

Cost: $210, $60 Medicare rebate available if ordered by medical practitioner.
