What is Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy is the application of pressure of 1.5 atmosphere pressure with 100% oxygen pumped into an inflatable chamber. The pure oxygen is generated from the surrounding air.
The increase in atmospheric pressure (roughly the same as being 2.5 metre below sea level) allows more oxygen to dissolve in blood plasma and other vital fluids so that it can saturate cells and tissues throughout the body.
The increased oxygen level also allows red blood cells to become more malleable so that they can carry oxygen to areas of the body that would otherwise be difficult to reach.
General benefits of mild HBOT include:
- Increased energy and endurance
- Improved concentration and cognitive abilities
- Decreased stress and better sleeping
- Effective treatment for digestive disorders and headaches
- Faster recovery from frequent flying or long flights
- Reduced feelings of depression, anger, or sadness
- Relief from aching, swollen joints and muscles
- An overall feeling of healthy rejuvenation
The Hypo2 is an Australian made mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber.
The chamber is available for hire or purchase. The South Hobart Natural Health Clinic is currently canvassing support for the installation of a Hypo2 chamber in the clinic. If you are interested in supporting this project or just want to find out more about hyperbaric oxygen therapy and its applications, please contact us by email or telephone: 6223 4842
We need $20,000 to purchase our first chamber like the one pictured on the right.
Ideally, we can raise another $20,000 to purchase a vertical chamber for people in wheel chairs or for those who can't crawl inside the horizontal chamber to lie down.
We are seeking loans of $1000-2000 to purchase the chambers. Your loan will be paid back from other people using the chambers and you will receive free time in the chambers as well.
High pressure hyperbaric oxygen therapy is most commonly used for the bends, or decompression sickness, in scuba divers.
The development of the mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber has allowed hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) to become available outside hospital settings such as a clinic or in the home allowing the uses of the chamber to extend to other health problems including autism, cancer support, injuries including brain injury and sports injuries, interstitial cystitis, sudden hearing loss, diabetes, poor healing wounds, Lime's disease, ADHD, dementia, arthritis, asthma, Bells palsy, Crohn's disease, fibromyalgia, stroke recovery, post-surgery recovery and cardiovascular diseases. HBOT is also used to promote healthy ageing.
